Visiting@WUT

The Visiting@WUT grant programme is divided into two components: Visiting Lecturer and Visiting Researcher, depending on the targeted practical activities. Eligibility criteria are set according to the type of grant and the specific profile of each host Faculty/DPPD, and include:

  • International visibility of the applicant’s academic profile (publications as author or editor, reviewer activity);
  • International recognition of the candidate (grants, scholarships, membership in professional associations, academic awards);
  • The candidate’s teaching achievements (course development, coordination of student activities – volunteering, symposia, summer schools; teaching awards).

 

During the period of the Visiting@WUT grant, beneficiaries will be provided with:

  • an office in the host Faculty/ DPPD
  • unlimited access to University and host Faculty/DPPD facilities
  • free access to the electronic resources of the WUT
  • E-UVT institutional account
  • free accommodation on campus
  • reimbursement of one round-trip ticket between the place of origin and Timisoara
  • payment of a grant of 6000 RON/month.

The selection of lecturers/researchers for a Visiting@WUT grant is carried out by each WUT faculty and the DPPD, based on an application file.

The contents of an application file include:

  • Registration form;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • List of publications;
  • 1-page description of the candidate’s teaching/ research profile;
  • 1-page motivation letter (detailing interest in collaboration and benefits for the host Institution);
  • 2 courses structure/ 1 research structure – title, abstract, topics, objectives, methods, targeted results, selected bibliography (max. 4 pages);
  • Letter of acceptance from the Department/ host Faculty (recommended).

 

The evaluation of applications will be conducted:

  • at the Faculty level, by a committee from the host Faculty composed of the Dean, International Relations Vice-Dean, Academic/Research Vice-Dean, and the Head of the host Department (the number of members may vary depending on the administrative positions designated at the Faculty level; the committee is validated by the Faculty Council);
  • at the DPPD level, by a committee composed of three members of the DPPD Department Council, appointed by the DPPD Director and validated by a vote of the Council.

Each Visiting@WUT beneficiary must comply with the following obligations:

  • mention the (co-)affiliation with WUT in every published paper, conference participation, event organization, project submission, or patent obtained during or as a result of the grant;
  • notify WUT of any change in professional status from the time of participation in the Visiting@WUT grant selection until the signing of the grant agreement;
  • ensure that no study contract (at any level), employment contract, or other written agreement with WUT was concluded for the period between the participation in the Visiting@WUT grant selection and the conclusion of the grant;
  • actively participate in the activities and events of the WUT academic community and to support the academic initiatives of the host Faculty and Department;
  • submit a detailed activity report to the Programme Coordinator at the end of each month during the period covered by the Visiting@WUT grant;
  • give a public presentation of the Visiting@WUT experience and the stay in Timisoara, open to colleagues and students from the WUT academic community;
  • act as a WUT Ambassador at their home universities and institutions, promoting the Visiting@WUT grant programme to their communities.

 

Specific obligations for Visiting Lecturer grant:

  • offer at least one teaching discipline (including related course and seminar activities) that spans a full or modular semester (covering proposal, development, teaching, and evaluation);
  • organize at least one additional type of activity (such as a course, seminar, round table, or lecture) and/or participate in (co-)tutoring, (co-)thesis supervision, volume editing, etc., in accordance with the proposal included in the application file and the final agreement negotiated and signed with WUT.

 

Specific obligations for Visiting Researcher grant:

  • conduct research activities in accordance with the proposal included in the application file and the final agreement negotiated and signed with WUT;
  • for short-term grants: submit for publication at least one article (in a Web of Science or Scopus-indexed journal, according to the main research areas of the host Faculty/ DPPD);
  • for long-term grants: submit for publication at least two articles (in a Web of Science or Scopus-indexed journal, according to the main research areas of the host Faculty/ DPPD) or book chapters to internationally recognized academic journals;
  • in the case of collaborative research with colleagues from WUT, contribute to the submission of at least one Horizon Europe 2020 or equivalent project proposal.
