International lecturers at WUT
The hosting of international lecturers/collaborators and their full-time/hourly employment at West University of Timisoara is administratively managed by the Faculties operating within WUT, in collaboration with the Department of Human Resources and the Department of International Relations.
The benefits offered to international lecturers/collaborators by the WUT:
- an office at the host-Faculty
- unlimited access to University’s and host-Faculty’s facilities
- free access to the electronic resources of the WUT
- E-UVT institutional account
- pick-up and transportation from the airport, railway station or bus station to the place of accommodation upon arrival/departure from Timisoara (if applicable)
- accommodation on campus (if applicable)
- monthly salary in accordance with the Order of Ministry issued by the institution responsible for nominating the lecturer or following the signing of an inter-institutional or inter-governmental agreement/partnership.
The Department of International Relations provides informational and administrative support to international lecturers/collaborators to be employed at WUT on the basis of an Order of Ministry or a bilateral agreement concluded in this regard, or as external collaborators or guest lecturers from abroad, on an hourly-paid basis.
Within West University of Timisoara, there are three categories of international lecturers/collaborators:
- Full-time:
- International lecturers nominated and employed at WUT on the basis of an Order of Ministry issued following intergovernmental agreements, following proposals received by WUT from the MEd and prior agreements from our institution (faculties) (e.g. Italian language lecturer, French language lecturer, Serbian language lecturer, German language lecturer, Spanish language lecturer, Turkish language lecturer)
- International lecturers working at WUT on the basis of an agreement with an institution promoting a foreign language or through the embassies of the respective countries, and paid from WUT external funds. They are not employed by WUT, but only hosted by the University, where they carry out their work (e.g. Fulbright lecturer, Chinese language lecturer, Portuguese language lecturer)
2. Hourly-paid:
- International collaborators invited by the faculties to lecture at WUT, who are only employed on an hourly-paid basis, only upon request from the faculties where they are to carry out their work.
In the academic year 2024-2025, 7 full-time international lecturers and numerous other lecturers or hourly-paid collaborators will be working at WUT. They teach foreign languages, civilization and culture, carry out research activities and are involved in various events and projects of or in collaboration with WUT.

The Department of International Relations will assist the international lecturers/collaborators, if necessary, in order to prepare the application for the Registration Certificate (for EU citizens who carry out a teaching activity for more than 3 months in Romania), the Residence Permit (for citizens from third EU countries) or to obtain the Tax Identification Number.
