General Information

The academic year at the West University of Timisoara consists of two semesters:

  • The autumn semester usually runs from the beginning of October to the end of January.
  • The spring semester starts in mid February and lasts until the end of June.

Each semester finishes with its own session of exams, each lasting for about three-four weeks. There is a two-three weeks vacation on Christmas, one week between the semesters, and about two months vacation in summer.

The public transport system (http://www.ratt.ro/). is free of charge for WUT’s students. For details, please contact the secretary of each faculty.
Foreign citizens that live in Romania for studies must register their stay for studies purposes at the General Inspectorate for Immigration, Timiș, with the following documents:

  1. Typified request from the Immigration Office, Timiș
  2. Typified declaration from the Immigration Office, Timiș
  3. Documents needed for crossing the border : Passport (having study visa on it)
  4. Student Certificate, from the Department of International Relations.
  5. Health Certificate from The Student Polyclinic, next to C12 dormitory or any any public or private health clinic (the students above the age of 26, must have in addition the proof of health insurance payment form The National Health Insurance Agency, Timiș, No.4, Corbului Street )
  6. Proof of accommodation (rental contract or hostel contract)Romanian ethnics who benefit of scholarships granted by the Romanian State are exempt from paying fees for residence permit.
