Admission of foreign citizens of Romanian origin – no tuition fee places

  • Graduates from Romanian high schools with baccalaureate degree or equivalent diploma enroll directly at the West University of Timisoara in the same period and under the same conditions as Romanian citizens and their admission will be carried out on the basis of the application files they submit. Some of these students will benefit from scholarships provided by the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, according to their academic results.
  • High school graduates with baccalaureate degree from the Republic of Moldavia or other states shall submit their application files at the premises of diplomatic missions of Romania abroad, the process of admission being carried out by the MENCS-MAE-DRP commission and those who will benefit from scholarships provided by the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research will address the West University of Timisoara for registration.

Apart from the state granted places, the West University of Romania accepts additional foreign citizens of Romanian origin students who have to pay a tuition fee for each academic year, having the same financial rights as Romanian citizen.

Also, foreign citizens of Romanian origin who participated in the admission organized by the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research at the premises of diplomatic missions of Romania abroad and did not obtained a scholarship will be able to register directly at the West University of Timisoara in the same period as Romanian citizens, under the same financial circumstances as Romanian citizens.

Graduates with bachelor’s degree from Romania or from another EU or EEA member state (Romanian citizens having the diploma obtained in another state must recognize their studies in advance by the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas - CNRED) enroll directly at the West University of Timisoara, in the same period as Romanian citizens. Some of these students will benefit from scholarships provided by the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, according to their academic results.

Graduates with bachelor’s degree from Romania or from another state (Romanian citizens having the diploma obtained in another state must recognize their studies in advance by the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas - CNRED) can enroll for master’s degree directly at WUT, in the same period as Romanian citizens, but have to pay a tuition fee for each academic year, having the same financial rights as Romanian citizens.

ATTENTION!

Candidates will not enroll directly to the faculty, they must carry out the pre-inscription at the Department of International Relations (DRI - room 155B).
Necessary documents for pre-inscription (one copy of each document):
  • Birth certificate - copy and legally certified translation;
  • ID card- copy in which the permanent residence is visible
  • Copy of the passport
  • Romanian ethnic certificate or another proof of ethnicity
  • Medical certificate – in original or legally certified copy
  • Documents of studies– legally certified copies and translations of High School Diploma (and of Bachelor Diploma if the candidate applies for Master studies.
  • Personal Data Sheet (to be obtained from DRI).

USEFUL INFORMATION

For the academic year 2015-2016 the following categories of scholarship are offered:
  1. Free of charge tuition fee with monthly scholarship with financing from the state budget for: tuition fee, monthly scholarship (65 euro/ month for students, 75 euro/ month for MA students and 85 euro/ month for PhD students) and accommodation in student dormitory;
  2. Free of charge tuition fee without scholarship: with financing from the state budget for: tuition fee and accommodation in student dormitory.
The scholarships are meant to support studies in Romania, to promote Romanian language, culture and civilization, to specialize young Romanians living abroad in their profession, as well as to sustain research on current topics such as the state, the dynamic and the evolution of the Romanian communities abroad.

For obtaining a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, the candidates must be foreign citizens of Romanian origin or Romanian citizens with permanent residence abroad, who do not have Romanian identity cards or permanent residence in Romania. These students maintain their financial status obtained on admission throughout this period of studies (but have to pay a fee in case of repetition of academic year).

Language of Study: In order to promote Romanian language and culture, the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research has decided that the beneficiaries of the scholarships should study only in the Romanian language. To study in a foreign language, candidates can apply directly at WUT but they have to pay the tuition fee, under the same financial circumstances as Romanian citizens. If the candidate does not know the Romanian language, he/she must attend Preparatory Year for learning Romanian language. In the first semester of the Preparatory Year the students study Romanian Language as a Foreign Language and in the second semester the students study the Romanian terms specific to the faculty domains where he/she will continue the studies: mathematics, economy, law, arts, humanities, etc. Candidates who have not studied at least 4 years in Romanian and do not want to attend the preparatory year will take the Romanian language test and must obtain the Certificate of Romanian language proficiency.
