It was started in 1946 on the initiative of Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas and is currently coordinated by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US State Department.<\/p><p>The role of the program is to increase mutual understanding between the American Nation and other Nations participating in the program, through educational and cultural exchanges, academic. The Fulbright Program operates in about 155 countries around the globe.<\/p><p>Romania participates in these bilateral exchanges of 1960 to 1993 administered by the US Embassy in Bucharest.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/\">The Fulbright Program<\/a>\u00a0is administered by the Fulbright Commission in Romania and Romanian-American Commission established in 1993.The Commission grants Romanian citizens, study and research scholarships in prestigious universities in the US and American citizens scholarships at Romanian universities.<\/p><p><b>Fulbright mission<\/b><\/p><ul><li>to encourage and promote scientific and educational exchanges;<\/li><li>to enhance mutual understanding between the US and Romania, cultural and educational exchanges;<\/li><li>to provide advice on study opportunities in the United States.<\/li><\/ul><p><br \/><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\">Grants for Romanian Citizens<\/a><\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\/fulbright-student-award\">The Fulbright Student Awards<\/a>\u00a0are offered to Romanian graduate students for degree or doctoral research (non-degree) at accredited U.S. universities. The candidates are selected through open, merit based competition to participate in quality graduate level programs in any subject except clinical medicine. The program offers participants the opportunity to experience firsthand the U.S. higher education system, society and culture. Duration of grant is one academic year. The period of application is open from early February to early May.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\/fulbright-senior-award\">The Fulbright Senior (Postdoctoral) Awards<\/a>\u00a0are offered to Romanian professors, and professionals for postdoctoral research and lecturing opportunities to U.S. universities. Applications are welcome from all fields of study with the exception of clinical medicine. Grant duration is three to six months. The period of application is open from early May to early November.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\/hubert-h-humphrey-fellowship\">The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0for midcareer professionals is offered to specialists with a demonstrated commitment to public service, in leadership positions, and at a point in their careers where they can fully benefit from a non-degree professional development program at U.S. academic institutions. Duration of grant is ten months. The period of application is open from late April to late June.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\/error-page\">The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0offers opportunities to non U.S. visiting scholars from different including Romania, to teach at U.S. colleges and universities for one academic year. The Visiting Scholars in the SIR program are expected to contribute to internationalization of the programs and campus, assist with the development of curricula and faculty and support initiatives meant to diversify student and faculty experiences.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-romanian-citizens\/fulbright-schuman-award\">The Fulbright Schuman Awards<\/a>\u00a0are designed for EU citizens wishing to study, research, or lecture on a topic relevant to U.S.EU relations, EU policy, or EU institutions for periods of three to ten months at a U.S. institution. The results of eligible projects must be relevant to at least two EU member states. Prior to submitting their application, candidates must arrange their own placement at an accredited university, vocational training\/professional institution, or independent research center in the U.S.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/news\/588-2016-study-of-the-u-s-institutes-for-european-student-leaders\">Study of the U.S. Institutes for European Student Leaders<\/a>, a five week academic program for young people ages 18-25. The Institutes are an all expense paid program, including meals, transportation, accident and sickness insurance and incidental expenses.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-u-s-citizens\">Grants for U.S. Citizens<\/a><\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-u-s-citizens\/mega-menu\">The Student Fulbright Award<\/a>\u00a0is designed to provide opportunities for those who hold BS\/BA or master&#8217;s degree, or for doctoral degree candidates, also for young professionals or artists who are studying, or conducting research. The Program also includes the English Teaching Assistant (ETA) component, offering U.S. graduate students (irrespective of field of study) the opportunity to teach English at university level.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fulbright.ro\/fulbright-grants\/for-u-s-citizens\/dropline-menu\">The Fulbright Scholar Award<\/a>\u00a0is designated to provide opportunities for Professors Professionals having a PhD or equivalent professional\/terminal degree who wish to lecture and\/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.<\/p><p><a class=\"culoare_scris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cies.org\/program\/fulbright-specialist-program\">The Fulbright Specialist Program (FSP)<\/a>\u00a0promotes linkages between U.S. academics professionals and their counterparts at host institutions in Romania. The program is designed to award grants to qualified U.S. faculty and professionals, in select disciplines, to engage in short term collaborative 2 to 6 week projects at host institutions. International travel costs and a stipend are funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.<\/p><p>Romanian institutions cover grantee in\u00accountry expenses or provide in\u00ackind services.<\/p><p>Minimum length of the total grant is three months and the maximum is six months. The Fulbright Awards Program offers exchange opportunities to citizens, scholars, students and professionals for study, research and teaching. These grants are supported by the U.S. and Romanian Governments and awarded through open merit based competitions supervised by bi- national panels.
